About MeMy mug shot

This is my second semester in the Master’s Program in Instructional Technology at USF.

My Bachelor’s Degree is from Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts.  I have taken graduate courses at Leslie College (Psychology), University of Massachusetts in Lowell (Programming and Human Computer Interaction) and at Florida Gulf Coast University (Education). I have lots of credits and no degrees. I have decided that it is finally time to finish one.   I took classes in a distance learning environment back in the 80’s, 90’s and then again recently. I have seen a real evolution in distance learning from broadcasting on the local PBS channel to fully web based environments.

I am a full time Web Design 1 and Web Design 2 teacher for Florida Virtual School.  I was originally hired as a substitute then as an Algebra 1 teacher and jumped to Web Design when I had a chance. The focus of the courses that I teach is usability and accessibility. I teach in a complete virtual setting and use Elluminate for my students on a weekly basis.  Prior to working at FLVS, I worked for the Lee County School District as a Teacher at the Alternative Learning Center where I taught the entire high School Curriculum using NovaNet and as the Technology Specialist.
My favorite communication method is im.

I am originally from Massachusetts and moved to Cape Coral, Florida with my husband, Dan and 4 daughters in 2001. I have 3 daughters in College; Nicole at Babson College, Alyssa at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and Michaela at Florida Gulf Coast University. My youngest Adrienne is a sophomore in high school. trends
